Ilana Hirschfeld is the Communications and Research Intern at the Environmental Solutions Initiative. She came to ESI as a co-op from Northeastern University, where she is a third-year student. Before beginning at ESI, she worked at Eaton Vance as the Income Group Administration and ESG Research co-op, and prior to that she collaborated with researchers at Northeastern’s Marine Science Center in the Muñoz Paleoclimate Lab.
Currently, Ilana is working towards her BA in environmental studies with a minor in rhetoric and policy. In the Fall of 2021, she will begin a Master of Environmental Science and Policy at Northeastern. Ilana is passionate about the environment and hopes to continue her career in the field of ecological economics or sustainable development.
Ilana was born and raised in San Diego, California. She has spent the past 15 years playing the violin in symphonic orchestras, both in San Diego and in Boston. For the past three years, she has been active member and leader at Northeastern University’s Hillel; in the 2019-2020 school year she was the concertmaster of the Northeastern University Symphony Orchestra; and in the Fall of 2020, she was a fellow for the Northeastern University chapter of Effective Altruism.
