At the Environmental Solutions Initiative, we strive in all our activities to advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2015, all United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At its core are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encompassing the most pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges of our time. Meeting these challenges will require commitment from and collaboration between organizations of all kinds—including universities, which, through their capacity to embark upon research, provide academic opportunities, and modify their campuses, are positioned to be public leaders in creating a more equitable and sustainable world.

Most pertinent to ESI, the SDGs demonstrate the interconnectedness of environmental concerns with all aspects of human wellbeing. As such, ESI’s mission aligns and engages with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development across all our projects and activities. In highlighting which SDGs our programs support and how, we can help model a new way for universities to do business, one that measures its impact in terms of equity and sustainability and holds itself accountable to a vision of just prosperity for all people and our entire planet.
