Iris Crawford,

Iris M. Crawford is the Climate Justice Editor at NPQ. Her roots are in environmental grassroots organizing, where she has helped frontline communities get the resources needed to strengthen their resilience. As a first-generation Guyanese-American and a native New Yorker, Iris has covered solutions around the just transition, environmental science, decarbonization debates, and the intersections between race, culture, and climate inequity. Her work has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Sojourners Magazine, AGU’s Eos, and Prism, among other publications.

From 2021-22, as a graduate student in MIT’s science writing program, Iris worked as a research assistant at the Environmental Solutions Initiative, writing for the Ask MIT Climate series on the MIT Climate Portal.
