Yiran He, Research Assistant

Yiran He is a first-year masters student at MIT’s Technology and Policy Program, with an undergraduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering and Science, Technology and Society. She previously worked on the MIT-Harvard Roosevelt Project in the area of the clean energy transition and regional economic and community development.

As a research assistant at the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative under its just transitions/climate justice program, Yiran’s research concerns equity issues with economic development and energy transitions, conducted in collaboration with local advocates and stakeholders. Research methods will include semistructured interviews, and eventual coding and analysis. The first deliverable, by the end of the 2021-22 academic year, will be a whitepaper on the various equity issues facing policymakers in planning for a just economic and energy transition.
